NOTICES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Midwives
We have been told by our bill sponsors that we have a chance of getting a hearing in the House for our House Bill 1737!!! We have also been told by our bill sponsors that we need constituents for
each Public Health Committee member to contact their representative immediately - phone, write, or visit in person. We also need those constituents to come to the hearing and greet their representative before the hearing, if at all possible. Please help us find constituents for each of these representatives - I have filled in the ones that you e-mailed me last time. Peggy Welch is our
bill author and she needs to be thanked, but not convinced.

Breast Implant
In recent days, the Washington Times has viciously attacked Sybil Goldrich, the founder of Command Trust. Sybil is a breast implant victim and has been taking the heat on our behalf for a long time. Many times it is a battle she has faced alone. Ladies, friends, and family members, it is time that we let the the Washington Times and other media know that we will not stand for these
attacks.
Join me in writing letters to the Washington Times to let them know that Sybil does not stand alone. There are thousands of voices behind her and we will be heard.
Here is the contact information for the Washington Times. Our future and the future of other generations of women to come is in our hands. Now, let's play our ACES.

Medical Malpractice PULSE of N.Y.
For those of you who have been supportive of 'Physician Profiles', the bill
number has changed. The new number in the New York State Assembly is A1401. Please call your local State Senator and tell him that you want him to support legislation on Physician Profiles. Tell him the new bill # is A1401 and you want a toll free number to find out if your doctor has a criminal background, has had his license suspended, has had hospital discipline, what hospital your doctor is affiliated with, if he / she is board certified, how many malpractice payments were paid in the last ten years !!!
Call the Board Of Elections for your Legislators number and address
Then ask....Why are my tax dollars going to collect this information if I'm not entitled to it ?
Then ask...Why is the New York State Assembly supporting this legislation and the Senate is not ? Could it be that the Senate gets more campaign funds from the Medical Society?
Then ask...why does the medical society NOT support this ? Could it be that doctors pay dues to be protected by the Medical Society and " bad " doctors don't want disclosure ?
Then ask...Why is Senator Kemp Hannon, The Chair of The New York State Health Committee not supporting this ? Can it be, most of his campaign funds come from the Medical Society?
Then ask..Senator Hannon..'Why are you ignoring your constituates"? Is this topic you would prefer not to discuss????
Please pass this on to all your buddies. It may be the most important phone call you make this year......and call and call and call........For more information please write to the above address of P.U.L.S.E. of New York. Your State may be next !!!!!!!

SUPPORT WOMEN'S HEALTH
Dear Colleague:
Please join in support of H.R. 4028, the Silicone Breast Implant Research and Information Act, when I reintroduce this bill in the 106 Congress. In just a short time last year, we were able to gain 50 bipartisan cosponsors.
Since the 105th Congress completed its legislative business, there have been significant events surrounding this issue. First, the class action law suit against silicone implant manufacturers was settled. Second, the Pointer Science Panel, which was created to analyze existing research studies, released its findings. Essentially, they told us what we already know - that existing science is inconclusive.
I hope you will support this important issue and cosponsor this bill in the 106th Congress. The majority of studies to date are fundamentally flawed. Independent, unbiased research is the only way to provide the millions of women who have silicone breast implants the information and answers they need and deserve. To correct this injustice, the Silicone Breast Implant Research and
Information Act will do three things:
1) Encourage the National Institutes of Health to conduct independent and unbiased research.
2) Require more accurate and timely dissemination of information to women who consider silicone breast implants.
3) Create an Interagency Committee that would share information and research compiled from public and private studies.
I thank you for your commitment to women's health. To cosponsor the bill in the 106th Congress, please contact me or Adam Gluck of my staff at 225-1688.
Sincerely,
Gene Green
